Record $150 million transaction

The New York Post reports that real estate tycoon Leonard Blavatnik has signed a letter of intent to pay $150 million for a huge triplex apartment in The Mark, a condo on the Upper East Side. The deal would be the most expensive residential purchase in the country.

The space being purchased is close to 30,000 square feet on the top three floors of the building. It also includes 3,900 square feet outdoors.

"It's hard to imagine there's a real-estate slump when a number like that is being bandied about," said one wide-eyed real-estate agent. "What could possibly be next."
